Stockholm 2021
10 weeks to go!
We welcome the new year, 2021 and we are really looking forward to hosting the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2021 in Stockholm, Sweden. This will be the tenth time that Sweden hosts the World Figure Skating Championships.
The Swedish Figure Skating Association last hosted the World Figure Skating Championships in Gothenburg in 2008. The Organizing Committee had worked closely with the City of Gothenburg to provide a successful and memorable event and we are doing the same with the City of Stockholm for the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2021.
– We like events – big and small. In this case with the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2021, we have worked strategically for a long time to apply for other Championships in figure skating, with the goal of getting the opportunity to host the World Figure Skating Championships in Stockholm. Now we are there, and it feels very good, says Marina Högland sports director at the City of Stockholm.
By hosting Championships in Sweden, the attention and interest in the sport increases and helps put Sweden on the international event map. Due to the current pandemic, the planning of the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2021 is different in many ways, further information will be published in due time.
– It is always inspiring but challenging to work with this type of events. This time it is naturally more challenging. We have a lot of experience from previous events and are always trying to find new solutions and ideas. Health and safety are our primary focus, and we are motivated to provide a great event for all participants, says Ulrika Molin, President Organizing Committee of the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2021.
